Kelsey Homanai, LCSW-C

Kelsey is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with specialization in child and adolescent treatment. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Salisbury University, Kelsey went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh. While in her Master’s program, she pursued an additional certificate in Child, Adolescent and Family Services.

At the start of her career, Kelsey provided placement preparation services for children and adolescents in the foster care system. While doing so, the families working with Kelsey received clinical treatment, psychoeducation, and placement support. Before leaving Pittsburgh in 2016, Kelsey assisted in the establishment of parent training programs for foster and adoptive parents. Her expertise provided parents with support and education on the grief and loss associated with placement and adoption, and prepared adoptive families to navigate the challenges they may face throughout their child’s lifetime. Kelsey’s career expanded when she worked on the Adolescent Female Unit at Sheppard Pratt. As an inpatient social worker, Kelsey implemented CBT and DBT therapy models, trauma informed practice, and conflict resolution techniques to provide crisis services and safety to her patients and their families. In addition to working individually with the youth on her unit, she also conducted family meetings and assisted in the development of a comprehensive CBT group for teenagers. The experience gained at Sheppard Pratt has expanded Kelsey’s expertise in crisis management and treatment of mood disorders.

Kelsey’s passion for treating young people continues, as she joins you now in the individual setting. She believes in teaching tangible skills to the individuals she serves, so that they may continue to grow and heal. Clients are encouraged to use their therapeutic tools daily, and not just in the sessions they share. With an understanding that you are doing your best, and that growth is still needed, Kelsey is ready to meet you where you are and walk with you on a path to wellness. Having a diverse background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Focused CBT, as well as experience with play, narrative, and crisis management techniques, Kelsey is prepared to use a comprehensive approach to meet your needs.
